Spoken Poetry and Other Readings

Rebecca adds her spoken voice to some of her favorite poems and art, giving the audience new insight into how Rebecca thinks and feels about her created works as expressed through the sound of her voice.

Currently, this page consists of a reading from ‘onions’, Rebecca’s debut book of poetry. She is in the process of releasing a second book of poetry and a book of art which will include context articles. In the upcoming months, she will add readings from these soon-to-be-released works. If you sign up for the newsletter, then you will receive an email letting you know when these additional readings become available for listening on this page, along with other updates.

As you listen to these readings, Rebecca invites you to consider your own thoughts and feelings while listening to Rebecca’s expression. How is Rebecca’s reading different from your own? What new insights or revelations did you gain? How did you respond to hearing Rebecca’s expression?

Relationships start to get real when the mask of politeness and the sugary-ness of pleasantries fades away. When the impolite truth is spoken, then we begin to build authentic relationship. This is when we find out what love looks like in the midst of anger.

For the Love of Anger Haters

Surviving abuse sucks. Processing abuse sucks, too. Needless to say, I feel a lot of anger about the abuse, the lengthy and brutal process of recovery and many other things. And on top of all this, I have to deal with even more abuse in the form of rejection from people who are angry that I am angry and want me to shut up because they don’t want to face or deal with their own hidden and denied anger that only boils to the surface when they are confronted by someone else’s anger (i.e. my anger).

Let’s stop attacking each other and start pointing our anger at our very real and deadly mutual enemy - the devil.

This poem is for the love of anger haters. Enjoy!
